A gnome’s home
has an acorn dome;
seasonally, he roams.
In spring property expanding.
Summer, treetop camping.
Fall, his dwelling takes a dive.
Squirrels misplacing, winter woe!
Until next year, his new home grows.

This is a piece of brevity with as a photo contest. 34 word maximum. My son asked me, what’s inside an acorn? And, I created this idea of it being a gnome’s home which he likes very much.

  1. A lovely bit of nonsense. A baby squirrel climbed up my leg yesterday whilst I was on a walk with Mrs H! I think it must have fallen from a tree. I put it near some adults just hoping its parents would claim it. 😂

    1. Thank you, Hobbo. Oh my! I would have been super startled by a squirrel climbing up my leg. He was definitely barking up the wrong tree. 😉 I saw a squirrel with a broken tail jigging the other day. He was in misery.

      1. 😂 i was wearing shorts too, and was a bit worried that he would seek refuge in their warmth!
        A broken tail would be quite a handicap for a squirrel I would think. 😒

  2. I love it too! I have not been good at writing short stories, at least that short. I tried it on a 700-word contest. I didn’t win. Oh well. Your illustration is terrific too!

    1. Thank you. Brevity feels good, but can be painful.
