Aggressive monogamy

the kind that drowns you

for territory and has you mating

well before

you reach sexual maturity

just to learn you the patterns

of what life will be.

This year’s crop of cygnets

float freely

seeing only their reflections;

they’ll never understand

the connection of a

a love without possession.

      1. You’re most welcome, K. Always. I haven’t in a relationship, only within; the latter of which is a new development for me of the past 3 or 4 years.

        I may be the wrong person to ask. I think I’m confused. You used the tag ‘brevity’. Love without possession is the best. Are you asking, can it last forever?

  6. Great poem. Aggresive monogomy has to be better than aggresive misogyny!

  7. Love without possession might also be known as Aggressive Love – mutual consent, respect and acceptance. Great piece, and yes, I think it’s possible. 🙂
