After Tina Turner
Staples, masking tape
or glue:
it doesn’t matter
what’s binding me to you.
Truth is, we’re close.
Lust, trust, the Covid flu:
we’ve all been through it, but
what’s love got to do with it?
My hand-me-down heart doesn’t have a clue.
Goosebumps, throat lumps
sure, you make the blood plump,
but the dam’s not broken through.
I’m craving what you carrying
but I’ll kindly pass it down
when I’m through.

I was sad to hear of Tina Turner’s passing this week. Her music always fills me with joy, so I thought I’d write a little something inspired by her 1984 hit, “What’s Love Got To Do With It.”
