I truly enjoyed judging June’s Brevity Contest inspired by this Apricot Brandy art-nouveau poster by Swiss Artist Eugène Samuel Grasset. I’m including my own humble brevity (75 words or less) and a juicy song to accompany this image as well as links to the contest winners in the hopes you’ll visit AllPoetry to sip on their juicy verses. A huge thank you to all who entered. Please enjoy at your own discretion.

Happy summer!

Stone pit apricot, I love you not
despite the blouse bursting open,
despite my desire to lunge
for the last button,
and devour the hairless parts.

Sungold beauty,
one touch makes the fields flush.
I strain to pluck a basketful;
June’s yellow culled
in mounds of mellow gush.

If I push my fingertips further,
the delicate skin tears apart.
Undress the flesh after dark.
Moongold, my faith falters
beside the apricot altar.
