This month’s photograph by Jim Pickerell/Documerica inspired me to pen a sci-fi poem all about what happens when your future collides with your present. A poem that attempts to answer the age-old question: what you would go back in time to tell yourself?

I would be honored if you traveled (in this space and time) to Visual Verse to read my published poem. The premise of this site is to sit with the image for less than an hour and create written art. I think this poem may be one to revisit, but what you find printed is what I penned in under an hour.

A huge thank you to the Editor-in-Chief Preti Taneja for publishing my poem this month. So to get you in the mood for this time-traveling piece, a jazz standard song with soul by Judy Henske.

Happy Monday!

  4. Thank you. Yes, I agree. I imagine we’d figure out how to communicate with our younger selves, given the opportunity.

    1. I think I’d have to much to say, I’d need a list to prioritize. Perhaps, most importantly, to believe in myself, care less about the external and put my efforts towards developing my mind.

      1. That’s where the real treasure is… In developing your own mind.
I’m sure yours doesn’t need as much development as mine 😉
