What do you get when you combine a Cognac Bisquit poster by Alfons Mucha and a sizzling hot July? A barrel full of delicious poetry.

I would be honored if you visited the winners of my July contest on AllPoetry. Prepared to be warmed by their verses. A huge thank you to all who entered. Enjoy at your own discretion.

Happy summer!

Live Water

Smooth backwards glance,
honeysuckle eyelashes
above a mango sheath,
imagine climbing
the sacred wellspring beneath.

I grow thirsty looking at you.

And although there’s nothing
hanging on the vines in view,
I have faith we can bear fruit
if given one distilled afternoon
alone to ripen.
