Genteel Virginia,

dressed in brown and beige,

the sound of haggling geese

over soft, aerial roots;

she’s graceful in her old age.

Oh, how I revere her.

Just to be near her,

to gaze into her crystal ball,

all fears and pains assuaged.

The faithful breeze,

the silent release

of flock from trees.

I’ve found my rightful place.

Soothed by her buzz,

lulled by her slower pace.

A gifted rib of cloud in sky

to form such lovely space.

    1. Thanks, John. It was gorgeous here this weekend. The fall really used her magical powers to have us all entranced. I was lucky to find a park bench free for an hour or so.
