After the Beatles 2023

Break or bend,

falter or ascend,

I’m an old soldier waiting

for the integral part,

the linchpin.

The keystone I’ve failed to defend.

I know the fortress I’ve built

defies the plans;

the long-forgetten myths

don’t stand a chance.

Not after so many beginnings

and so few ends.

Going back to The Beatles is like

going back to school

to learn

supply is never greater than demand,

and art expresses pain,

a vanishing.

I will be proved right:

they (whoever they are)

can’t beat love.

A found poem of sorts taking lines taking from some of Lennon’s most famous quotes.

    1. Thank you, Colleeen. I sort of didn’t want to like the rereleased Beatles tracks, but I should have known better. The track is really quite good.

      1. We listened to the song and thought the same thing. It’s something we all need, I think. Peace. ☮️
