Barely a breeze

in old Siam,

my new city.

The skyline, a shiny new

pinball machine, and

from my balcony,

the sound of heavy wings,

a new day takes flight,

unseen.

Sky the color of Khao tom,

night evaporating.

Breakfast at the Lazy Daisy,

then I man the flippers

and play.

  2. an intriguing, fascinating piece; I had to look up Khao tom; the pinball machine reference is clever as is the metaphor of the new day taking flight; I didn’t get the man the flippers reference —

    1. Thank you, John. I’m busy getting settled in here. I’m finally starting to get on ICT time. Oh, yes. “Man the flippers” is a pinball thing..time to get on the flippers and play . 🙂 Thanks so much for reading and commenting on this first poem in my new hometown.

      1. so you really are there, Katie: there must be a story behind that; I wish you all the best in your new situation; strength, love and creativity 🙂

      2. Thank you, John. Yes, it’s the sort of sensory overload I’ve never imagined possible to be here, but it feels great to be traveling again. So much “new” to enjoy.
