She begins her dance
by lifting up a ruffle of trees,
white flamenco heals
tremoring, reflective
syncopated stomps
in time with breeze.
The snaps of talons,
white owls release
limbs scratching surface
passion’s fingers
along ivory curves:
her courtship piece.
Opalescent crown,
stars will connect to forge
a jeweled peineta,
atop a cloudy mantilla
that veils the moon
in feminine folklore.
