I recently attended a spiritual retreat. I rarely have time for these sorts of things, so it was a precious experience to hear many different speakers share their spiritual practice, and, to bask in their knowledge and expand my own practices. If you will be so kind as to indulge me, I thought I’d do my best to try and share some of their wisdom in verse.

Let all of what you share be true.
Alignment. When stressed or confused,
go to the root.

Help is available to you.

When I was little, I learned to believe,
but I had to climb the staircase of the body:
a different chakra, a different frequency.

Pause to receive.

We barely survive on animal instincts.
A womb is a galaxy, planets exploding,
each of us a sun capsizing.

Hope is a nebulous family.

We are part of a yolk
binding us together to
do the extraordinary.

Love has forgotten no one.

Rejoice in fluidity. Wed truth.
Carry its liquid marrow in your bones,
a sacred oath.

A fountain-like circle of trust.

For water does not fear smoke,
and a trickle is all that we need
to let others know they are not alone.

    1. Thank you, Bob. It felt good to turn everything off, if only for a little while. I will have to remember to power everything down more often. 🪷

    1. Thank you, Tiffany.💜 I think I’m “on” too much in my day-to-day. I sort of go from one role to the next: teacher, mother, wife, but its hard to have time to just be me. I am learning to do it without the guilt. 🪷

  4. This is a really beautiful poem and helpful at the same time. You have managed to distill what you learned at this retreat, for the rest of us to benefit from and I think I will be rereading it again and again.

    1. Thank you ever so much, Nicole. Whenever I take time for myself, it really heals me, but it’s difficult for me to grant myself this time. I am sorry I missed this message before, dear friend.

    1. Thank you, Susi. I want to say yes to more of the things that make me feel like I’m growing spiritually, but it often means saying no to career, family, or friends. 💜
