This is my first Fandango Flash Fiction. I was impressed with the stories I read for this contest. This flash contest has no word or style limitations.

Soul Mating

Souls harbor doubts. Fears that the lush lust of youth will drop its blooms and leave an empty stem of a marriage. So we waited. Fifty years penance before our souls would be eternally melded.

The circular pond stood still; first we’d laid beside many summers past. No scissors had waded in my hair since we parted. Flowers, red and white, friendship and passion ready for your arms. I would play you a song composed in your name, but not before I knelt and asked your soul to join mine for all our future lifetimes. Would you be eternally mine?
