Today’s Twenty Word Tuesday word of the day is-Opium. Visiting France, I discovered that many famous writers of bygone times frequented opium dens. More information on this can be found at Parkstone International. The website shares this starting info: “Nicknamed ‘la fée brune’ (the brown fairy), opium may be less colorful than its friend absinthe, ‘the green fairy’, but it is no less intriguing. Imported from China by sailors in the 19th century, it became widely used in brothels in the port cities of France. But it wasn’t long before this ‘midnight oil’ became the fashionable drug of choice in the French capital.”
Tiny brown pupils sticky from smoke slowly sip a bitter, spritely reflection; euphoria is momentary after years in the den.
