I wanna wear a starry crown
jangle jewels of joy, let my soul shine
despite the flawed design;
seeds scattered in darkness
survive underground.

Galaxies grown in utero,
birthed before dragon’s eyes,
father and mother disguised,
cruise an onyx sea
sailed seven-billion years ago.

d’Verse Poet’s Pub PoemDe Jackson is the host for Quadrille #141 Heady is the Poem That Wears the Crown. I immediately thought of the starry crown, first described in Revelation 12:1 but mentioned in Shirley Ann Lee’s song, “Someday,” the intro. to Kayne West’s Ghost Town.

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

      Some say the stars represents souls saved but I see them as lives improved with the hopes of having a galaxy of brighter lights around me like so many other dead poets that have shared their wisdom through words.

    ‘let my soul shine despite the flawed design’ was just such an emotional line to read. Superb poetry…jn only 44 words, so much! I saw it was very literary, and appreciated the reading afterwards to see how it fit in. Very good read this morning..
