Santa Clara

The thick purple peel of clouds
reveal a startling green horizon,
a day that dared to sweat.
The fields all farmed,
fat off the vine, a drip of wet.
This sunset carries weight,
a bitter taste,
of things we know to be true,
but would love to forget:
an aubergine sunset.

    1. Thank you kindly, Tom. I found it on my way to teach evening classes, and well, like so many beautiful things, it does have a bit of melancholy in it. Cheers.
