Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528)

May come as a shock!
It might surprise the lot
that I’ve no interest
in the everyday tot.

Rather talk scabies,
their pustules, and their spread,
than butterball babies
who’ve just held up their heads.

Done talking littles,
their potty training days.
Tantrums and spittle,
green vegetable spray.

Those days are long past,
I’m happy to report.
Farewell to infancy
raise your knife, spoon, and fork!

NaPoWriMo #15 Ask us to write about something you’ve absolutely no interest in. I decided to try a new format, a Breccbairdne, which is an Irish quatrain. Have you heard of it?

Here are the basic guidelines. I’ve included more rhyme than is necessary.

  • Quatrain (or four-line stanza) form
  • Five syllables in the first line; six syllables in the other three lines
  • Each line ends with a two-syllable word
  • Lines two and four rhyme
  • All end words consonate

    1. Thank you. It’s wonderful to not care about something anymore that used to consume my every waking minute. 😂 What things are you no longer interested in? 💜🦋

Keeping up with the latest fads & my social media. HUGE peace of mind now I’ve quit that years ago. 💜

      2. Does this count as SM? I started twittering in 2019, but I conceded other SM, and never cared much for fads.

I’d say it’s more constructive SM, yeah (like Twitter 😉 ). Being happy in your own headspace rather than comparing yourself to old school mates’ rose-tinted lives on FB or IG.

      4. Cheers to that. Never IG, but I agree it’s a keeping up with the Joneses sort of thing. Strange sort of lifestyle voyeurism.

  8. Ha! What fun to read. I do like babies, I must say, but only because I can hand them back once we’ve cuddled! 🙂
