Font size matters–
by making the letters smaller
the words wisen
penetrate more profoundly.
Serif your words
and readers imagine
them carved neatly
in a Roman statue.
Sans Serif the same text
to form pure geometry;
modernize your message
free it from aristocracy.
Skip the script fonts,
they lack legibility,
and don display fonts
sparingly.
Whatever you chose,
weigh your decisions carefully,
meaning is less important
than the charactery.
NaPoWriMo#22 challenges us to write poems in the style of Kay Ryan, whose poems tend to be short and snappy – with a lot of rhyme and sound play. They also have a deceptive simplicity about them, like proverbs or aphorisms. Here’s her work: “Token Loss,” “Blue China Doorknob,” and “Houdini.” Do you think mine fits in well?
