Fur and leaves
And zebra trees
Cotton candy landscape
Beneath a lime green breeze.
Chase the zigzag rabbit
Through dawn’s foggy maze
Pray his whisky habit
Is just a fuzzy phase.
Wrapped in woolen scarves
Forest potpourri
Red and yellow fallen stars
Discarded by the trees.
This time of year
The trunks show their scars
And the wind through hollow branch
Hums the year’s final bars
The wind through hollow branch
Below moon’s slender scimitar
For what once was all his
Will soon be ours.
