A tourist poses next to a light sculpture ahead of Lunar New Year celebrations in Bangkok’s Chinatown, in Thailand, on January 19, 2023.

Lunar New Year
wags its red tongue,
tells the ancient tale
of tiger stripes
blended behind a
kumquat tree.

Before the good luck coin
rests on blue hyacinth sky,
flowers scatted
in remembrance of yesteryear,
2023 grazes mildly
on the green horizon;

a thoughtful creature,
careful to catch the
colorful kimonos rustle,
in search of friendlier faces.

The rabbit is patient;
listens before it speaks.
A swift kick of hind legs
and it will outrun
the wintery wolf,
charge the burnt-out sun
to bring us all relief.

    1. Was it on that trailer. I’m so out of touch. I just saw it recently and thought yes, that’s what I’ve got, stamina. 😂

      1. Hehe yeah it was a revised version of this song but it was on the Matrix: Ressurections trailer. I hated the movie, don’t watch it if you love the first three but trailer was awesome.

      2. Thanks for the warning. I am a fan of the first three, so I will steer clear. 😉
