Mozart’s Requiem––
fitting start
for a young musician
shedding fingertip skin,
learning something must die
to be reborn again.
Something pure
and innocent.
Music is both mourning
and repentance.
Ascend the choir loft,
the closest chamber
to heaven.
Perpetual light,
no matter the cost.
