Rowan,
traveler’s tree,
a ruddy entranceway–
portal to a higher purpose,
belief.

Rowan,
a service tree,
passion and protection.
Eat of her brightness expecting
relief.

  1. Your double American cinquain is fabulous, K. The Rowan tree is a Mountain Ash tree here in the U.S. We had one when I was growing up in Wisconsin. The orange berries look amazing against a blue sky in autumn. You captured the magical essence of this magical tree in your poems.

  2. I looked up Rowan Tree too; your cunningly constructed cinquain serves it well 🙂

    1. Thank you, John. Did it say anything in the description about being hopelessly forgetful? It really should. What tree are you, pray tell?
