Dear Readers,

I’m tingly all over from the news that one of my latest horror short stories will be published this Halloween in Volume 6 Issue 4 of Coffin Bell. This spine-tingling journal of dark literature is a favorite of mine, and so I’m honored beyond words that Editor-In-Chief Tamara Burros Gisanti has selected my suspenseful tale to include in her holiday edition. More on this later, but for now, a bit of mood setting poetry and music.

Happy fall!

K.

Listen in
for the slight tinkling.
The itch
on the inside of the elbow,
the deed
pronounced dead,
the shame
buried six feet deep
was just unwell
and sleeping.
Listen in
for its return,
the coffin bell.

  2. hey K: congratulations: that’s terrific; that’s my fear — I should never have read Poe’s ‘The Premature Burial’ or watched 2010’s ‘Buried’ ‘ me, I’m getting cremated !!!

    1. Thank you, John. I’m no friend of tight spaces, and I agree with you that cremation is much more humane for all involved.

    1. Thank you so much, Michele. I was so excited to find a home for this story. It was a bit of a misfit and didn’t fit in a few other places.

      1. May take longer to find it, but even misfits deserve a home. 😁

  8. Thank you so much. 💜The coffin bell is an intriguing idea, and it definitely caught my attention as a title of the publication when I was searching for the right place for a story that pushes limits. I wonder how many people rang there way back to life?
