Snow is no one’s savior.

Milky weather makes
landmarks blurry.
White-out splatters
bombed streets,
but can’t cloak retreat,
camouflage violence, or
brighten a heavy defeat.

Snow is not worth worshiping.

We’d wait to buy the
generator too late,
and have to burn
all the furniture in the place
to keep alive till spring.

  1. Burning all the furniture sounds like a good time.

    1. 🤣Yes, well. I have a few Ikea pieces I wouldn’t mind burning myself, but I’m happy to have to climb into bed each evening.

    1. Thank you, Tom. I’ve barely been getting in any writing time these days, but the end of the year approaches, and I’m hopeful I can find more time to do what I love most.

  3. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where it only snowed in the local mountains, I loved the idea of snow. But after spending 17 years in St. Louis – where it didn’t snow heavily very often but when it did, was a major pain – the novelty wore off.
