Giddy Spring,
For my laziness, my lack of focus, I ask to be forgiven.
Play tag with the clouds while the trees try to blend in.
Feel the charity of the daffodil.
Forget getting ahead of time, break even.
I want to be the peony, unashamed of being eaten.
For what has been a clammy year finally offers me a pearl,
though its luster is fast retreating.
If I can't create from nature's diverse building blocks,
fallen petals on sidewalks,
I'll gladly sit the sidelines and cheer on
the spring equinox.
