When spring takes off its jeweled necklace
and mother of pearl earrings,
a shady ravine.
Enough to make me believe
in the beauty of monotony.

Warm breeze from passenger window
makes hair tiptoe across my cheek,
blades of green.
Enough to make me believe
I ,too, can be content with mimicry.

  1. oh this one is wonderful; in a poem that is all standout it is hard to pick a standout line — but ‘the beauty of monotony’ does take the cake: this notion is rarely examined ; do I feel a poem coming on? 🙂
