Summer is a rom-com,
a lighthearted drama,
popcorn petals strewn on the bike trail
and front lawn.

Puffy white wedding dress clouds,
bee hive outdoor concert crowds,
and the feeling that
the happy ending has just begun.

I'm not used to this optimistic view–
I might count on the weather;
I might count on you.

Smooth ride by the lakeside,
fooling around before dawn,
barefoot follies,
playing tag with our tongues.

Summer sizzles
tickles,
giggles,
and I have to admit,
I'm singing along.

I't's true, I've missed the humorous plot,
the Lancelot,
and when I said I didn't need the fanfare,
the whole regale,
I was wrong.

    1. Indeed. It’s good to have someone to play doubles with in the summer at least. 💜

    1. Thank you, Lisa. That’s so kind of you to say. I was finally able to get my bike out for a spin and this poem happened right after the ride. I’m grateful for your words.
