A boiling, sugary afternoon

climaxes in parfait.

Slice of sun

skims the rim,

a priceless parcel

peeled of its fuzzy skin

dripping syrupy gladness

through the slotted spoon of leaves

where I lie completely chill

and watch the frothy clouds

shrink to crystaline gems.
