After three days labor,
my hands are free,
and I am left to wonder, what do these women see
in my prophetic tapestry?

The waterfall's pebbles
gently nudged loose
will fumble to the gurgling sea.

Side-by-side skyscrapers,
wealthy brothers
will sink simultaneously.

Do they delight at lover's light?
The careful knots
unraveling?

Will they be left rapturous
or in an awful rut?

A future,
I dare not dream, as I
am but the harbinger,
divine intermediary,
emissary of a tapestry.

  1. I discovered Big Thief in 2019-2020 while living in Denver. “Not” came on the Indi radio. I thought it was really unique. The song, “Not” is 6 minutes of discordant carnage that (in fleeting, flashing moments) levels out into harmonious bliss. Listen to the bass line latter half of the song.

    1. Will do. Thank you for the rec.

I think I heard them on tiny concert and thought….this is the sound I need. I’d love to hear them play live sometime. Tickets and queues and covid..they’d be worth it.

I love the sonic resonances in this poem, K!

    1. Thank you. I like how the creator of art in this piece isn’t responsible or even as interested in the interpreting. I think that sums me up pretty well. I appreciate you passing by. Cheers to making new art!
