The moon is a missionary in the night sky,

preaching longing, lust, delight.

An emissary of feeling, she

sends her sultry signal through the blackening city skyline,

proselytizing pleasures yet to be designed.

A Buddhist wheel,

she rotates ‘cross many muddy ditch lines

reminding us are lives are but the lotus

born and trampled

by a too early twilight.

  1. And the Stars are her congregation. And the Sun her groom and co-host in the Megachurch of life.

      1. I was thinking of Yacy (Jaci in Portuguese) and her husband, the Sun God Guaraci from Native Brazilian religion. She’s the night and moon and stars. So I imagine them together in a celestial dance leading a chorus of stars in praise.

      2. Thank you.🙏 I will have to read more on these mythical figures so I can visualize their special dance. Oh, to see the chorus of stars again. I know they must be singing out there somewhere, but here in Bangkok, they seem to be blotted out. The moon makes her monthly, though. My body won’t let me miss it. She woke me quite early this am.

    1. Thank you, John. We have the Buddha belly moon out tonight over Bangkok. Honestly, I’m relieved to see it. Often there’s nothing but a tarry night.
