He flew through the sky
teaching others they had wings.

Guitar, a streamlined body,
warm-bloodied lyrics,
Neil was both pauper and king.

With a layer of warble
over a 12-string sea,
he glided with the dolphins,
rarely to be seen.

But he left happy trails, like his father
fixing jukeboxes, by teaching
others to glide while they sing.

  1. I hadn’t heard of him. Thanks for the introduction and poem that drew me in.

    1. You’re very welcome. I first heard his voice five years back. It was like lightning. I love his low baritone and the warble.

    2. You’re very welcome. I only heard him for the first time about five years ago. I wish he had produced more music. His voice, it’s magic.
