This
poem
is not concrete.
It’s not set in stone
nor cement. It’s sedentary.
Neither resilient nor reliable,
stable nor sturdy; this poem
is untrustworthy. Deliberately
flammable, fearless, flirty.
While it changes shape,
misbehaves, it’s worthy.
Trim the wick. Watch
it glow, but don’t
blow it.
This
flame
is my poem.

NaPoWriMo#28~Create a concrete poem. I dreaded this assignment as a child. I loved the leak of the words and then trying to mold them into a shape, I couldn’t even. But here, I’ve created my anti-concrete, concrete poem. “They tell me to stop, but I keep on going.” The finish line is a few days away. Then, my lovely muse rests.

    Loved this, as usual.
By the way, “concrete” also has a double meaning that pairs well with stone and cement.
And the artwork is absolutely stunning.
    Thank you for posting!

    1. I’m glad you picked up on that. I was hoping to play with the word concrete and then the lovely fluidity of flame. Cheers. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.💜

    1. How wonderful. To feel blaze with each verse. I get a bubbly sensation sometimes when the meant-to-be words arrive, and there is a flush as well. 💜🔥

  9. I love a rebel! I like that you wrote an anti-concrete poem and a well-composed one at that. I am glad we only have one day to go! I have stuck to prompts throughout this year, let’s see what tomorrow brings! ❤🙂❤

    1. Yes, it has been a challenge. I almost turned my back on a few of them, but I’ve been able to plow through these prompts. Today’s is well, not a favorite of mine, but the fairytales sound fun. I’ve been enjoying your responses, Carolyn. Best of luck finishing the final few. 💜

      1. Rules are definitely a 2 edged sword… no one like them but in some way we need them I think lol

      2. Yes, If we didn’t have rules, how could we enjoy breaking them. 😂 No, I get it. Rules serve a purpose.
