She came on a silver tray,
a fancy hors d’oeuvre,
a classy canapé.
Hair glazed fig topped with mascarpone
lips, smoked salmon.
Before cutting her into little pieces,
put her on display––
sharing, a formality.
365 degrees
washed down with the season's
first Chablis.
Before this summer flames,
enjoy the blooms;
see how easily time and beauty
can be consumed.
