He flew through the sky
teaching others they had wings.
Guitar, a streamlined body,
warm-bloodied lyrics,
Neil was both pauper and king.
With a layer of warble
over a 12-string sea,
he glided with the dolphins,
rarely to be seen.
But he left happy trails, like his father
fixing jukeboxes, by teaching
others to glide while they sing.

GloPoWriMo#29 Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem that takes its inspiration from the life of a musician, poet, or other artist. And while our example poems are squarely elegiac, don’t feel limited to minor-key feelings in your own work.
